- Very inconsistent style of cooking. - No nutritional data. While some recipes contain fresh ingredients there are others that rely on highly processed foods such as cream of mushroom soup and bottled salad dressings. Quite a few recipes contain significant amounts of high fat dairy (cream, sour cream, whole milk, cheese). Anyone watching his or her weight or cholesterol would be dismayed by a cookbook that purports to be an every day cookbook. - There are at least a couple of recipes that aren't freezer recipes at all, so why are they in this cookbook.- If you've ever used Dream Dinners and you were hoping to learn how to prepare your own freezer meals (and maybe even kick the quality up a notch) this cookbook is a step backwards.
I've had this book for almost a year now and have tried probably almost 2/3 of the recipes - all favorites. The best thing about the book is that most of the ingredients are common ones that I typically have on hand. And they vary from Mexican to American to Italian.
Absolutely the best recipes I've seen in a long time. Bought both books and have tried many recipes - each one is a winner. Would highly recommend these even if you don't want to freeze your meals. (and the ingredients are common ones found right in your pantry).
I love this. I have cut my cooking time down and my grocery bill by 2/3 to 1/2. or Sam's Club, make a few meals in bulk on a weekend or two then, mix and match them over the days of the weeks.
With working a full-time job, kids activities, and coming home tired at night. And I don't have to spend lots of time cooking each night but we get variety in what we eat during the week/month. I like cooking, but not everyday.
Then suddenly I am a meal planning mom. This gave me a way to have family meals, make them more budget friendly and schedule friendly. I can shop at [.].
I use this free online meal planner www.mealsmatter.org to schedule meals and create shopping lists. This is my favorite of the cook ahead books, right now I have 3.
These recipes are not only awesome, but the instructions are great, too. I have a very hard time finding quality recipe books with healthy recipes. Most are full of recipes and weird ingredients my family would never eat. I purchased this after trying Dream Dinners for the first time, and it is exactly like the type of meals and preparation you would find in the store. I can't wait to get started cooking.
